School Tours

The school welcomes tours at any time. Please contact the school office to make an appointment to meet with the Principal for a guided tour of our school.

Prep Enrolment

Cockatoo Primary School use the VicStudents portal, the department’s new online enrolment system, for Foundation (Prep) enrolments in 2027.

Our school has an enrolment restriction under section 2.2.16 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic).

Our school will prioritise enrolments from:

  • students who live within the school zone
  • students with a sibling attending the school at the same time
  • students seeking enrolment on compassionate grounds, in exceptional circumstances.

Depending on available places remaining, our school may be able to accept a limited number of out-of-zone enrolments according to next closest to the school.

The department will review this enrolment restriction yearly and provide updated advice as necessary.

Prep Transition

A comprehensive Prep Year Transition program begins in term 2 for any pre-school child entering Prep in the following year. The program provides a range of experiences for the pre-school children across the curriculum and an early childhood lecturer, an associate from Melbourne University, conducts an information session on School Readiness for parents.

It’s normal for children to feel excited, sad or anxious about starting school. Our transition program is designed to ease the collywobbles and to ensure that the beginning of school life is a positive and happy experience …… for mums and dads too!

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au. Findmyschool.vic.gov.au hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones for 2020 onwards.

Students residing in this zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.

The Department provides guidance through the School Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations.

You can find more information and answers to frequently asked questions on the Department’s website under School zones.
